Using USDT-margined perpetual futures as an example, this guide explains how to open and close positions on the AstralX website and app. Available leverage, order units, and trading parameters may vary by contract. Refer to the values shown on the trading page.
Opening a position creates a long or short position. Closing a position reduces or exits an existing position. After clicking an order button, you must still confirm the order and check its fill status. Clicking the button alone does not mean the trade is complete.

How do I open a position?
- Log in to the AstralX website, go to Futures, and select the contract you want to trade.
- In the Open panel on the right, check the margin mode and the leverage settings for opening long and short positions.
- Choose an order type, such as Market or Limit, and enter the price and order quantity using the units shown on the page. Check your available balance, maximum position size, and estimated margin.
- Verify the direction, then click Open Long or Open Short. In Order Details, review the contract, direction, margin mode, leverage, price, quantity, and estimated order margin. Click Confirm to submit the order.
- Check Open Orders and Open Positions below the trading panel. Only the filled portion of an order creates a position. A limited order may remain pending or be partially filled.
How do I close a position?
Under Open Positions, find the position you want to close. In its Actions column, select Close or Flash Close. If you cannot see the Actions column, scroll the positions table to the right.
- Standard close: Click Close, then select Limit Close or Market Close. For a limit close, enter the order price and quantity. A market close attempts to fill at available market prices. After submission, check the order status and remaining position. A limit close may not fill immediately.
- Flash Close: Click Flash Close and review the position direction, quantity, and estimated P&L in the confirmation window. Then click Flash Close (Buy) or the corresponding button shown on the page. According to the current on-screen notice, the system first cancels existing closing orders for that position, then attempts to close the entire position at the best available market price. Check the trade history for the actual fill price and P&L.
How do I set take-profit and stop-loss orders?
Under Open Positions, find Take Profit / Stop Loss and click Add. Select the Entire Position or Fixed Quantity, then set the trigger conditions. If you select Fixed Quantity, enter the quantity as well. Review the settings and click Confirm.
Take-profit and stop-loss orders are position management tools. Setting one does not mean the position has closed. Once triggered, the order still needs to be matched under its order conditions, and the actual fill price may differ from your expectation during sharp market moves.
App
How do I open a position?
- Open the AstralX app, tap Futures at the bottom, and select a contract on the USDT-M Perpetual page.
- Make sure Open is selected. Check the contract name, Cross / Isolated margin mode, and the separate leverage settings for long and short positions.
- Select Market Order, Limit Order, or another available order type. Enter the price and order value as labeled in the input fields. The input unit may be BTC or USDT, depending on your page settings. Confirm the unit, then check Available and Margin.
- Tap Open Long or Open Short. Review the contract, direction, mode, leverage, price, quantity, and order margin in Order Details, then tap Confirm to submit.
- Check Open Orders and Positions below the trading panel to see whether the order was filled. Tapping Confirm submits an order; it does not guarantee that a position opens immediately.
How do I close a position?
Find the position under Positions on the Futures page. Its position card provides Close and Flash Close options.
- Standard close: Tap Close and choose Limit Close or Market Close. For a limit close, check the order price and quantity. A market close attempts to fill at available market prices. After submission, check Open Orders and the remaining position size to confirm whether it has closed.
- Flash Close: Tap Flash Close. Review the contract, direction, position size, and estimated P&L in the window, then tap Flash Close at the bottom. According to the current app notice, the system first cancels any existing closing orders for that position, then attempts to close the entire position at the best available market price.
How do I set take-profit and stop-loss orders?
Tap Take Profit / Stop Loss on the position card. Select Entire Position or Fixed Quantity, enter the take-profit and stop-loss conditions, and tap Confirm. If you select Fixed Quantity, make sure the quantity does not exceed your current position size.
Before You Trade
- Open Long and Open Short create positions; Close reduces an existing position. Check the direction so you do not mistake the opposite position for a closing trade.
- Limit orders may remain pending or fill partially. The actual price of a market order may vary. Use your order, trade, and position records to confirm whether a position has opened or closed.
- Flash Close acts on the entire position and may cancel existing closing orders. Read the current confirmation notice carefully before proceeding.
- The 100× leverage and estimated P&L shown in screenshots are examples from that moment, not recommended leverage or guaranteed returns. High leverage increases liquidation risk.
